Responsible Gambling

At Southern Cross Lotto, responsible gambling is not a footnote — it is a core part of how we operate. We are committed to providing tools, information and direct access to support services so that every player can make informed decisions.

Our commitment

As a licensed lottery operator under VGCCC License No. Q21005680, we are required — and committed — to uphold the highest standards of player protection. This means:

  • Providing clear, accurate information about odds and prize structures for every game.
  • Never encouraging players to spend more than they can afford.
  • Making responsible gambling tools easily accessible, not hidden behind menus.
  • Training our team to recognise and respond to signs of gambling harm.
  • Complying with all relevant Australian state and federal responsible gambling legislation.

Deposit and spending limits

You can set daily, weekly or monthly spending limits on your account at any time through your account settings. Here is how limits work:

  • Setting a limit: Choose a maximum amount you wish to spend per day ($10–$500), per week ($50–$2,000) or per month ($100–$5,000). You may also set a custom amount.
  • Decreasing a limit: Takes effect immediately. There is no cooling-off period for reducing your spending limit.
  • Increasing a limit: Subject to a mandatory 7-day cooling-off period. You will receive a confirmation email and the increase will only apply after the cooling-off period has elapsed. This is designed to prevent impulsive decisions.
  • Removing a limit: Treated as an increase and subject to the same 7-day cooling-off period.

Once your limit is reached, you will not be able to purchase additional entries until the next period begins. We recommend setting a limit that reflects your entertainment budget — not your income.

Session reminders

Set up regular notifications that remind you how long you have been playing and how much you have spent during your session. You can choose intervals of 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours. When a reminder appears, you can choose to continue or end your session.

Activity statements

Activity statements provide a detailed, itemised record of your lottery account over a chosen period. Statements include:

  • Total deposits and withdrawals
  • Total amount spent on lottery entries
  • Total prizes won and claimed
  • Net position (total spent minus total won)
  • Number of entries purchased
  • Current spending limit settings

You can generate an activity statement for the last 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or 12 months from your account settings. Statements can be downloaded as a PDF or sent to your registered email address. Under the National Consumer Protection Framework, you are entitled to receive an activity statement at any time upon request.

Self-exclusion

If you need a break from gambling, you can self-exclude from your Southern Cross Lotto account for a period of your choosing. During exclusion, you will not be able to purchase entries or access your account.

BetStop — National Self-Exclusion Register

BetStop is the Australian Government's National Self-Exclusion Register. By registering with BetStop, you can exclude yourself from all licensed online wagering services in Australia at once. Registration is free, voluntary and confidential.

Signs that gambling may be a problem

Gambling harm can develop gradually. If you recognise any of the following in yourself or someone you know, it may be time to seek support:

  • Spending more money or time on gambling than you intended or can afford.
  • Chasing losses — continuing to play in an attempt to win back money.
  • Gambling with money needed for bills, rent, food or other essentials.
  • Feeling stressed, anxious or irritable when not gambling or when trying to cut back.
  • Lying to family, friends or colleagues about gambling activity or losses.
  • Borrowing money or selling possessions to fund gambling.
  • Neglecting work, relationships or personal wellbeing because of gambling.
You do not have to wait for a crisis. Support services are available for anyone who feels that gambling is no longer enjoyable or is causing concern — even at early stages. Reaching out early is a strength, not a weakness.
